What Is Postural Dysfunction?
When you slouch or slump, you stress the small muscles and ligaments around the vertebral column and the unbalanced load on your system can result in muscle weakness and imbalance.  Overtime, this can accumulate as degenerative disc and joint changes.  This begins a vicious cycle of further unbalanced muscle control, further joint breakdown, along with low grade pain which can progress into more severe pain patterns.

Chronic poor posture results in constant muscle and joint overload. At Imokilly Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, our physios will assess the current abnormal muscle patterns, and then teach you how to correct them.  We will also advise on how to address the contributing environmental factors such as desk set-up, car seat, mattress and pillow positions, so you can aim for great posture in all positions.
